I tell stories for a living. Sometimes theyâre true. Before I could write I drew pictures to tell the stories I had in my head. And I canât draw. I trained as a stenotype writer but I never stopped writing stories and I had a dozen or so published in Australian magazines. After a successful career as a court reporter and a parliamentary reporter/editor, I stopped writing other peopleâs words and began to seriously write my own. The internet has opened up a whole new world of writing opportunities and now when Iâm asked what I do for a living I proudly say,âIâm a writerâ. I always was, but now I say it out loud.
