Michael R Basso, Ph.D., MBA, CQE,
Dr. Basso has significant experience as a consultant, as a psychology educator at Yale College, the University of CT, and Westchester Community College, a researcher at Yale Medical School, author, newspaper columnist in holistic wellness, senior engineer, industry leader and as past president of the CT Holistic Health Association. Michael is also an adviser to the Wainwright House in Rye, NY.
Michael has consulted to a variety of for profit (fortune 500 and mid-sized) and non-profit organizations from both strategic and tactical perspectives. His approach is a bio/psycho/social, total quality leadership, one with due consideration for diversity, excellence, organizational wellness and individual differences.
As leader of the state wide CT Holistic Health Association, Dr. Basso had rapidly tripled membership, expanded the organization from one to five functional branches and simultaneously led numerous large scale and smaller events while spearheading community outreach and increasing membership benefits. Michael has been a speaker, radio interviewee, newsletter writer and integrator; leading a very productive honorary and affiliate membership program - including Yale School of Music and the CT Department of Public Health. Michael had created a variety of holistic awards, including those for innovative students and Yale School of Nursing and UCONN dental school.
Dr Basso helped initiate the Yale Medical School integrative medicine group and was a founding member of the UCONN School of Medicine's nutrition and integrative medicine teams. Michael was also a member of the Yale School of Nursing chronic diseases committee and the Yale New Haven Hospital noise reduction and process improvement committee.
As a former industry leader, Dr. Basso, has successfully led enterprise wide (concept, engineering, marketing, sales, service, manufacturing, human factors, etc) multifunctional program development teams in which as many as eleven large scale programs were launched simultaneously while exceeding time, budgetary and total quality and reliability system goals and increasing revenues by as much as 0.5 billion dollars annually.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in psychology and biomedical systems, an MS in engineering science, an MBA with a focus in international executive leadership, an advanced professional development diploma (PD) in pathophysiology, neural systems, and education, a BS in electrical engineering and an AAS in technology. He is also certified in a variety of quality systems and health related areas and is a graduate of the Pitney Bowes interdisciplinary industrial management and technology training program.
Michael is a Reiki Master and has studied the Mari El, Therapeutic touch, and Craniosacral healing systems as well as other holistic wellness modalities.
Dr. Basso has completed teacher trainings in Yin and Restorative Yoga and is currently pursuing certification at the RYT 200/RYT 500 & Kundalini Yoga level I/II levels. Michael has studied a variety of yoga styles, including, but not limited to the Asthanga, Kundalini, Iyengar, Sivananda, Jivamukti, Dahn, Bikram, Power, Forest, Tri Yoga and Aerial systems. Michael is also a student of the martial arts, such as Karate, Kung Fu, Aikido, Krav Maga, Ju Jitsu and more. Dr. Basso has studied a variety of static and dynamic meditation and clearing techniques as well as a wide scope of spiritual and religious systems.
As an experienced expert in education, Dr. Basso has taught as many as ten college level courses in an academic year, has rapidly developed innovative curricular designs, has been a Yale College thesis advisor and a guided independent study mentor at both Yale and UCONN. Michael has also been a member on a variety of doctoral committees.
Michael has also published more than 40 books and professional articles, including those written for the Yale Journal for the Humanities in Medicine, and a variety of children's books focused upon tolerance, diversity, global responsibility, nutrition, wellness, interfaith concepts and on the US Constitution; as well as others on organizational leadership, quality management and therapeutic processes.
Dr. Basso is an expert in the social and neurobiological aspects of stress and has lectured accordingly at Yale University, the Society for Ethical culture, UCONN, Westchester Community College, The Agency on Aging, the Connecticut Holistic Health Association and several other organizations.
He has also been involved in research initiatives associated with Alzheimer's disease, surgical memory and disgestive diseases.
