Michael L. Sparacino, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Michael L. Sparacino is one of the world’s leading health care advocates for the poor and disadvantaged among the patient population, in a career that has spanned more than a quarter-century and two continents, including a posting at Osan Air Force Base in the Republic of Korea, where Michael Sparacino served as director of emergency services.
Michael Sparacino is singularly dedicated to offering sound clinical and academic leadership through quality implementation with all health care team members and patients of an established health care system with emphasis on rural practice and excellence in health care delivery.
Dr. Michael L. Sparacino’s medical career has been multidimensional, including not only focused, intensive work, study and authorship in osteopathy, but also in high-risk obstetrics, and family practice. Also, from an academic perspective, Dr. Michael Sparacino has earned fellowships in faculty development, medical management, and program director development, making Dr. Michael Sparacino uniquely well-versed and experienced in the many levels of health care administration and hands-on practice that is so sorely needed in rural areas, where Dr. Michael Sparacino’s efforts are most focused, particularly regarding medical ethics and end-of-life care and education.
Michael Sparacino has also worked as associate director, family practice residency program; and director, fellowship in obstetrics for family physicians at Deaconess Health System in St. Louis, Mo. Here, Dr. Michael L. Sparacino recruited quality fellowship candidates and taught and provided advanced and high-risk obstetrical techniques and procedures.
At Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa, Dr. Michael L. Sparacino created and implemented all academic programs, including preventive medicine, behavioral science, and end-of-life care in Michael Sparacino’s position as family practice residency director.
Dr. Michael Sparacino has also served as family physician for Immanuel-Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Mayo Health System, in Mankato, Minn., since 2002. Here, Michael Sparacino creates and administers academic and biomedical ethics programs for the hospital and related clinical sites, in addition to a separate clinical practice.
Distinguished author of more than 30 professional papers and publications, including topics as diverse as science and spirituality; subactute bacterial endocarditis (causes); and the demographic differences between civilian and military headache clinics, Dr. Michael L. Sparacino has been and continues to be a highly respected, admired, and appreciated member of the worldwide medical community.
