Hey there! How are Ya? Thanks for coming by my HUBPAGES profile and checking out my hubs!
This is Billy Anne Crews here from Chattanooga, TN. I’m a 33 year old home based business entrepreneur that well, moonlights as a musician in my spare time (you can google me on that one).
To tell you something about me, Let me tell you a little story…
I’ll never forget it. I was out in a high end shopping area my Mom and sister. I was 24 at the time and my sister said to me….I just wanted to show you what you could have if you actually just worked hard and got a job and basically “did what you were raise and told to do”. Get a great education and get a good job with benefits, then eventually if you work hard enough, you’ll make 200,000 a year. Now I looked at her like she was crazy. Why on earth would I want to be stressed out like you all the time and not really doing want I wanted to do anyway? I really just wanted to shout out how much I HOW MUCH LOVE PRADA, Ranger Rovers, and Caviar, but I was not willing to sell my soul for it. Yes, I went to Prep School. Yes, I went to one of the most innovated colleges in the country, but where did that get me? —NO WHERE and in debt. I tried to play the job game on and off, but I know I exuded not wanting too and that is probably why I ended up in the restaurant industry! I wanted to be successful either playing music or creating success my own way…no matter what.
Fast forward, after being in the restaurant industry for 7 years (with a few normal jobs in between) here I was 30 years old with a day job and a cocktail waitressing job saying …WTF? F.Y.I. , Thank God I Look Young! (smile) One night, I was working as waitress at a cocktail party and I found a magazine about a travel company that someone had left behind. I read it that night and carried that magazine around with me for about three weeks (everywhere I went) before I contacted anyone about it. I had just been exposed to Network Marketing and it was like the Holy Grail to me. The person who left the magazine did not have their contact information on there, so I totally went online. I picked a person and called them. I didn’t care what this person had to say really. All I knew was that I was going to do this. I had a few questions, but really with a tad of hesitation because this was new to me. I knew it wasn’t a scam and I totally knew it was a great business model and it just made sense to me. It was 500 bucks and I didn’t really have the money to spend. Three weeks later, I just said, “How Much Longer Do I Want To Live Like This? This is Not What I Signed Up For in My Life”, so out came the debit card and I was in business.
My first year in Network Marketing Left me more than 7 Thousand Dollars in Debt (cc maxed out). I had quit my second job to work this business so I could call leads and work my business….etc. I just didn’t have a cash flow to even keep my business flowing on a constant basis. I wasn’t breaking even from buying leads and the people on my team were not duplicating. Now my team leaders were finding their own way too and there were “free lead generation” strategies I should have just gone out and done when I was told to do them, but well “You Never Hear Things, until You Are Ready to Receive Them.” I didn’t complain though. I Knew This Was the Ticket. Not one that scratched off and left me either no money or a millionaire, but a ticket that would take me on a journey and I was willing get there “by any means necessary.”
Then It CAME, the we no longer need you speech. It was really the, “you don’t care about being here so why should we speech.” I wanted to kiss the lady for firing me. I knew I shouldn’t be there and that job was a waste of my time (as all the ones before). All I Knew Was that I had to generate my own leads, get traffic, educate people, give value and information back to not only the network marketing community, but others as well. I never wanted to go back to some Joe Executive Office and Beg and Lie for a position that didn’t pay me enough to whip my a** with CHARMIN (extra soft). That Market Place was NEVER one I wanted to be in and that it why I was detected as a phoney and fake in every job probably every job interview I ever had because really I was Unwilling to Answer the Question….”where do you see yourself going with this company?” (Chuckle)
All I Knew Was, if someone else is making a “loving” working from home, then I Can Too, and So Can Other People. I found a way that not only changed how I went about building my network marketing business, but it really made me remember the drive that had as a teenager and a young adult. The drive that no matter what, no matter what they say, no matter how unreasonable it may seem— Make It Happen.
If You Teach People to grow into their own prosperity mindset and build their own economy, then people can apply that not only in their home based businesses, but they can take it out into their homes, their communities, and their jobs. This is what they really should be teaching you in school.
Teach ‘Em to Fish,
Billy Anne Crews
