Nadya Rozanova

In her beautiful and tranquil Soquel office, Dr. Nadya Rozanova practices an ancient healing art known as Reiki which she learned in her Russian homeland. Dr. Rozanova has a PhD in Biology and is also a cancer researcher at the University of California Santa Cruz. As a scientist and researcher, she has discovered what many are beginning to take seriously: our health and well being are not only dependent upon what we eat and drink and how much we sleep. Our health and well being are affected by our thoughts and feelings—the mind/body connection.

Another component of this mind/body connection is the electromagnetic field, the life force energy running through and around our bodies. Some call it the aura. In the 1940s another Russian, Semyon Kirlian, developed a technique to photograph this energy. Dr. Rozanova and doctors like her understand that a disruption in the energy field will cause a breakdown in communication between the brain and the body and will cause weakness and disease to have a chance to take hold. Using Reiki, Dr. Rozanova helps to restore the energy to its full potential and can help people’s bodies to heal themselves naturally.

Dr. Roznaova explains that Reiki is completely compatible with Western medical treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy and medications in general. Reiki supports and enhances all medical treatments. She has worked with cancer patients to reduce the side effects of chemo and has even worked on people whose tumors were diminished by using Reiki prior to their surgeries. She can apply Reiki to any kind of illness, emotional problem or life challenge and clients receive a positive benefit. One advantage to working with Dr. Rozanova is that her clients can learn to use Reiki on themselves and enhance their healing experience.

In this mind/body connection, our life force responds to our thoughts and feelings. Negative thoughts and feelings about ourselves, conscious or unconscious, can disrupt and diminish the energy field and reduce the life-giving functions all the way down to a cellular level in the body. Many people have used affirmations—positive words and thoughts—to re-program their thoughts in a more positive direction. This takes a long time to achieve a good outcome. Dr. Rozanova says that using Reiki, the negative thoughts and feelings are removed very much faster.

One remarkable story that Dr. Rosanova shared with us is about a 20 year old girl with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The patient underwent a hard course of chemotherapy that leaves patients bald and suffering from nausea and vomiting. During this time she had regular Reiki sessions and she kept all her hair and had minimal sickness. She then began radiation therapy and “she is doing fine and the doctor was totally amazed and said he never saw anything like it.”

About herself, Dr. Rozanova says, “this energy therapy started with my self treatment because I was very ill and I did a lot of conventional therapy, medications. I had a thyroid problem. I tried herbs and homeopathy and then the Russian method of energy therapy. As a scientist it was hard for me to believe this, but I tried it and it worked beautifully. The next step was for me to learn Reiki and I used it on myself and my family. I also used Reiki in my research with cancer cells.”

Dr. Rozanova explains that she used something called catalytic therapy on cancer cells in the labortatory, applying extracts of herbs followed by ascorbic acid and copper sulfate. Her work demonstrated that following the introduction of these substances into the cells, a natural process of cell death occurred in the cancer cells, leading to tumor suppression. “After two or three treatments 100 percent of the cancer cells will be dead,” says Dr. Rozanova. Next, Dr. Rozanova decided to try using Reiki on the cancer cells in the lab. She gave daily Reiki treatments for two weeks and saw the same process of cell death take place. She believes that both catalytic therapy and energy therapy have a promising future in the fight against cancer.
