I just started freelance writing last month after teaching high school English for twelve years. I still teach, not brave enough to quit yet and do this full time. I'm hoping to be a full-time writer by next summer. I am a lifelong writer and have instructed countless students on writing techniques. I'm also one of those "grammar freaks" that proofread emails and texts! I have written some guest blog posts but I have mainly written articles on divorce, single parenting, trauma, finances, and teen suicide. Looking forward to writing some more upbeat articles!

When your best friend tells you she is getting a divorce, you more than likely want start giving advice in an effort to help. Some things hurt more than they help. Some things you can do to help.

Depression is an ugly, black monster. It can turn the nicest people into unbearable beings. A depressed mother is difficult because we want to be the best for our kids—but sometimes we just can't.
