I got my start in radio at WJAX, a small AM station in Jacksonville, FL. My first time on the air was one of the greatest days of my life. I wasn’t very good but I felt like I had won the lottery.
My first programming job was at WJBT. I didn’t know very much but since that time I’ve led successful Programming, Marketing and Promotions teams in Milwaukee, Detroit, Memphis, New York, New Orleans, Miami, and Raleigh.
In Detroit, I led WDMK to a tremendous increase in audience and removed our competitor from the top-rated position with Adults 25-54 making WDMK the top-rated station in the Urban AC format. I was also able to grow ratings and make WGPR a consistent top 2 performer with Adults 18-34.
While in Raleigh, WQOK and WFXC finished #1 and #2 among Persons 12+ and both were among the top-performers in target demo within Radio One.
As Director of Urban Programming in New Orleans, WQUE and WYLD ranked #1 and #2 in every demo including Persons 12+, Adults 18-34, and Adults 25-54.
In New York, I was able to lead WWPR to an increase in audience and remove our competitor from the top position with Adults 18-34 making WWPR the top-rated station in the Hip-Hop format.
In Memphis, I led WHRK, KJMS, WHAL, and WDIA-AM to #1, #2, #3, and #4 among Persons 12+... finishing with the top 4 stations in the market. I also developed and launched the Hallelujah-FM gospel format which debuted #1 in Memphis, TN, #2 in Jackson, MS, #1 in Montgomery, AL, #2 in Biloxi, MS, and top five in Birmingham, AL.
Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to benefit from great coaches, teachers and mentors that have helped with my professional development and also helped me to become a proven team leader.

On Social Media, the content needs to be excellent. It needs to be engaging, it needs to be error free and it needs to really sell the “dream” – the value proposition – that gives your radio stations brand its emotional appeal.
