Chattampi Swamikal was a social reformer in Kerala, south state of India. Remarkable changes took place due to his teachings and work-education and temples became open to people of all castes. He gave voice to marginalized layers of society at that time. Kerala ceased to be the land of injustice.
During the first five centuries of Christian era there were no rigid caste divisions in Kerala, India but there were social freedom and equality. Kerala people followed the casteless system of the Dravidian culture. However, Aryan immigration changed a lot. Kerala's society was split into castes.
