60Nick’s early behavioral health years were marked by humility and purpose. He began working as an addictions counselor, providing essential support to individuals battling substance use disorders. For four years, he served on the front lines, helping people confront the realities of addiction and take steps toward healing. His compassion and professionalism quickly stood out, earning him the Director of Substance Abuse Services role at a private outpatient facility. In this leadership position, he developed a broader vision for what effective treatment could look like. He dreamed of creating a space that focused not only on treatment but on complete healing—where individuals would feel seen, understood, and supported in every aspect of their recovery journey.
That vision took shape in June 2017 when Lifetime Recovery was founded in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. Built on the belief that people deserve more than temporary relief from addiction, Lifetime Recovery was designed to provide holistic and individualized care. The center’s programs focus on addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological dimensions of addiction, empowering clients to rebuild their lives and sustain long-term recovery. Under Dr. DeSimone’s leadership, Lifetime Recovery has become a place of hope and transformation, where clients are encouraged to grow, heal, and thrive beyond their struggles.
In April 2021, Dr. DeSimone expanded his mission by opening Renewed Light Mental Health in West Deptford, New Jersey. Recognizing the deep connection between mental health and addiction, Renewed Light was created to help individuals dealing with conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, and grief. The center follows the same holistic philosophy as Lifetime Recovery, emphasizing individualized care and emotional resilience. Through Renewed Light, Nick continues to provide a supportive environment where people can rebuild their confidence, strengthen their well-being, and regain control of their lives.
Dr. DeSimone’s credentials reflect his dedication to education and ethical clinical practice. He has been a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) since 2017 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2022. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Rowan University and a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2015. In April 2021, he achieved his PhD in General Psychology with a concentration in Performance Psychology, exploring how mental skills influence motivation, resilience, and overall well-being.
Dr. DeSimone is an active community member and speaker outside his professional work. He frequently shares his personal story of addiction and recovery, offering hope to those still struggling. As of 2025, he proudly celebrates 13 years of sobriety—a milestone that underscores his perseverance and personal growth. His lived experience deeply enhances his professional approach, allowing him to connect authentically with clients and model the possibility of lasting recovery.
Dr. DeSimone’s influence extends beyond his treatment centers. He was featured on Fox 29 News during “Sober September,” where he discussed the value of sobriety as both a mental and emotional reset. In the interview, he encouraged people to reflect on their relationship with substances and adopt healthier coping strategies. He also spoke about the social pressures that make sobriety challenging, highlighting the importance of creating a more understanding culture around mental health and addiction.
Dr. Nicholas DeSimone continues to inspire transformation and hope through his counseling centers, public speaking, and community advocacy. His experience and professional expertise allow him to guide others with empathy and integrity. Looking ahead, he remains dedicated to expanding access to quality behavioral health services and helping individuals not only recover from addiction but build fulfilling, thriving lives beyond it.
