60Norman Badger has committed more than three decades to a career with Publix, the employee-owned grocery chain in the United States. His path reflects steady growth built on hard work, dedication, and consistent leadership. From his earliest days in hourly roles to becoming Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, his journey shows how experience and persistence can lead to greater responsibilities. In his current role, he oversees store operations across the company, ensuring that service standards, team leadership, and operational goals are consistently achieved.
Publix operates over 1,400 stores in eight southeastern states, with the majority located in Florida, as well as in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. He began his career with the company in 1995 as a front-service clerk in Aiken, South Carolina. Over time, he worked through a variety of hourly positions before becoming a store manager in 2007. As a manager, he handled budgets, supervised staff, maintained inventory and merchandising, and ensured strong customer service. In 2014, he was promoted to District Manager, taking on responsibility for several stores. He guided managers, ensured company policies were followed, and maintained consistency in operations. Three years later, he advanced to Regional Director, leading multiple districts, focusing on long-term planning, operational alignment, and leadership development.
In 2020, Norman Badger, Publix, became Vice President of Product Business Development for the Bakery and Meat departments. In that position, he expanded product lines, developed supplier partnerships, negotiated contracts, and enhanced merchandising and supply chain processes. His efforts aligned customer preferences with company objectives. In 2024, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, where he now oversees the whole retail network. His responsibilities include supporting leadership teams, maintaining service standards, and contributing to the company’s long-term strategy. He values the people he works alongside and remains grateful for the opportunities he has been provided throughout his career.
He was born in Jacksonville, FL, and married his high school sweetheart in 2001. They have a son and have lived in several cities, including Atlanta, Charleston, and Raleigh, before returning to Florida. Sports play an essential role in his personal life, and he and his son are devoted fans of the Steelers and Penn State. Each season, they travel to games together, creating meaningful memories. In 2023, they traveled to Glendale, Arizona, to see the Kansas City Chiefs play the Eagles, an experience they both enjoyed. His son also plays JV football in different positions and participates in basketball. Watching him compete brings pride, and over the years, he has collected keepsakes from their trips that represent their time together.
