In April of 2010, Elle (Pamela) Ingalls founded Pressure-Free Living, a business dedicated to sharing a ground-breaking method of stress-reduction and published her first e-book co-written with Peter Ingalls: Stress Free: The 10-Second Solution – Simple Steps for Health, Happiness and Peak Performance.
A native of Concord, New Hampshire, Elle was a violin student of Nancy Harrison Cole during her youth. At the age of twelve, she performed in concert with an adult string quartet, and by the end of high school had won numerous local competitions and awards. She holds three degrees from the University of Michigan, a Bachelor of Musical Arts with emphasis in Music Theory, Violin Performance, and French; a Master of Music; and a Master of Business Administration. She studied violin with Paul Makanowitzky, Jacob Krachmalnick, and Gustav Rosseels, and conducting with Gustav Meier and Carl St. Clair. Ms. Ingalls was the first woman to be accepted into the University of Michigan’s Orchestral Conducting Program. She also studied violin with Elizabeth Holborn at Interlochen Arts Academy as a full-scholarship chamber orchestra member. While working on her MBA, she wrote a formal paper on Stakeholder Analysis of the Symphony Orchestra as part of a Corporate Strategy Independent Study under Dr. Stuart Hart. In addition to her studies, she was a member of the University of Michigan Rowing Club’s Women’s Varsity Eight for three seasons.
Professionally, Ms. Ingalls has served as Orchestra Manager and Assistant Conductor of the Ann Arbor Symphony, Marketing Director of the Kalamazoo Symphony, Music Director and Conductor of the Battle Creek Youth Orchestra and Executive Director of the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra. She has been a violinist in many orchestras including Ann Arbor, Saginaw, Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. In 1996, she and her husband J. Peter Ingalls founded the Community Music School of the Battle Creek Symphony. From 1996 – 2001, the two of them worked with people throughout the community to create the Music Center of South Central Michigan, merging three different non-profits and their various programs. She consults, mentors and instructs non-profits, particularly in fiscal management and has taught seminars for several years for the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts. She currently serves as violin instructor for Kellogg Community College and the Music Center of South Central Michigan, and performs as a member of the Battle Creek Symphony.
