Phil Healy is a senior analyst in the financial services sector based in Chicago. Raised in a multicultural home with a Brazilian mother and an American father, he developed a deep appreciation for languages and diverse cultures from a young age. He is fluent in English, French, and Portuguese, which has allowed him to connect with people from various backgrounds throughout his personal and professional life.
Phil’s academic journey began at the University of Notre Dame, where he studied from 2014 to 2018. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a second major in French. At Notre Dame, he was actively involved in various campus activities. He contributed to the university’s student radio station, WVFI (Voice of the Fighting Irish), and volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of St. Joseph County. Additionally, he was a Notre Dame squash club member, balancing his academic pursuits with extracurricular activities that helped him develop leadership and communication skills.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Phil continued his education at the Mendoza College of Business at Notre Dame, earning a Master’s degree in Accountancy with a specialization in Tax Services. This advanced degree provided him with a deeper understanding of accounting and tax law, further preparing him for the complexities of the financial services industry.
In 2019, Phil began his professional career as a tax consultant at Deloitte Tax in Chicago, specializing in multistate tax services. He reviewed corporate and partnership state and local tax returns and addressed multistate tax issues. His strong technical skills and attention to detail led to a promotion to senior tax consultant in early 2021. In this role, he took on additional responsibilities, such as reviewing investor packages, estimating payments, and withholding taxes. He also managed engagement workflows, supervised a team of consultants and interns, and worked closely with client controllers and tax preparation teams. His time at Deloitte allowed him to gain significant experience in tax planning, compliance, and restructuring.
Phil’s next professional move took him to GCM Grosvenor, a private equity firm based in Chicago, where he worked as a fund finance analyst. At GCM Grosvenor, he managed accounting ledgers for private equity funds and investment vehicles. His tasks included reviewing quarterly financial statements, working capital calls and distributions, and reconciling cash flows. He also collaborated with co-investment partners and internal teams, including legal, treasury, and tax management, to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. His time at GCM Grosvenor further refined his financial analysis skills and provided him with experience in the private equity sector.
In 2023, Phil transitioned to Invenergy LLC, a global leader in renewable energy, as a senior analyst specializing in international finance operations. In this role, he prepared cash flow projections and budgets for renewable energy projects, working closely with local and global teams to manage financial variances and update forecasts. He also supported deal structures, such as acquisitions and joint ventures, and was integral in managing internal financial transactions, including capitalizations, dividend payments, and intercompany loans.
Outside of his professional life, Phil is passionate about volunteering. He has contributed his time to organizations such as Gilda’s Club of Chicago, the Boys and Girls Club of St. Joseph County, and the L’Arche Center, which supports individuals with intellectual disabilities. He is also involved with Brave Space Alliance, a Black trans-led LGBTQ+ center on Chicago’s South Side.
In his free time, Phil enjoys following Chicago’s sports teams, including the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. He is also an avid musician, having played the piano since childhood and producing music on a home recording setup. He enjoys spending time with his two cats.
