I am a teacher and behavioral specialist in a high school alternate program for students with behavioral and/or emotional problems. Although my specialty is Math, I am certified in elementary and secondary as well as special education.
In an early life, I attended Villanova University in the 70's. I took a year off after junior year and one year became 25. I finally returned to college at the age of 45 after working in the restaurant business, roofing, running a cable tv studio, delivering newspapers, and spending 5 years at home caring for my two children.
As a proud liberal, I believe lthat we all share responsibility to care for our weaker or less fortunate neighbors. The preamble to the U. S. Constitution states that the roles of government are: "to provide for the common defense, to promote the general welfare, and to secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our prosperity..." The common defense is self-explanatory, but what does it mean to promote the general welfare? How do we secure the blessings of liberty? These are questions that should be considered in any political debate or commentary.
