From a young age, I was always happy to watch, learn and help my mom in the kitchen with cooking. By the time I was in my teens, I could prepare a complete meal. I had great teachers, as my mom and granny were great cooks, so along with learning from them and taking six years of home economic classes I was experienced in the kitchen.
By the time I was married and had sons, I had a large collection of recipes and it was not unusual for my family to sit down to dinner or dessert to try a new dish. Feeding continuously hungry males kept me busy trying new recipes and my family were good sports about it.
It hasn’t always been easy, as I had my share of recipe disasters like lumpy gravy, pudding that wouldn’t thicken, noodle dough and pie dough that was determined to stick to the rolling pin along with other kitchen mishaps. But persistence, determination and love of cooking paid off.
Over 40 years of collecting recipes I still enjoy cooking for my now larger family, which now consists of daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren. I’m still looking for that next new, unusual recipe to be enjoyed by all.
I enjoy offering advice, suggestions and of course delicious recipes to share. I believe good recipes and food should be shared as it nourishes the….mind, body and soul.
