RF(not his real name,duh) came into this world early 1970's with a loud scream, and an overabundance of sarcasm.Music has always been a constant fixture in his life since age 4 when he first saw KISS, and it was either the excellent color combination of Peter Criss' Cat makeup(silver and green=a high degree of awesomeness), or the music(probably not) that made Auster a complete music whore.
Growing up,the sounds of the great 80's new wave movement as well as the budding thrash/speed/death metal underground scene became the shrine from which he found meaning. The battle between Haircut 100 and Testament never happened, but those sounds have stuck with him ever since.
He has been involved in the Metal scene since the early 1990's as a writer for a small independant music/entertainment publication(Rockit! Chicago) as well as a musician, and founder of his own band,Avernus, which despite releasing a multitude of demos, as well as a couple of albums via professional labels, has fallen into the status of "cult", or (who?) for the uninitiated.
He recieved his B.A. in Criminal Justice after many years of academic research(changing majors more times than Letterman has slept with interns), and while not graduating with a "degree" per se in some of those fields(exercise science, art, breakdancing, to name a few), he has utilized his studies in those fields upon his daily existence for your reading pleasure, but whether or not you will read "weight lifting secrets from A Flock of Seagulls" remains unknown, but that's the way R.F likes it, uh huh uh huh.
Inspired by the likes of Edgar Allen Poe, Mike Nelson and Kevin Murphy of MST3K fame,Henry Rollins and his own natural sarcasm, the truth according to RF Auster is not always pretty, and sometimes screams for a good written beat down.
RF temporarly lives in the belly fat of the Midwest and is currently pursuing his M.A. in really cool secret stuff.
In addition, RF is a devout horror movie and music fanatic,and enjoys himself a large bowl of fine cereals of all varieties at any time.
