61Established in 1992, Ryegate Associates has been a steadfast leader in the local power industry, at the helm of a state-of-the-art 20 MW wood-fired electrical power (biomass) generation facility. Our unwavering dedication to environmental sustainability is showcased by integrating an advanced Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control system, effectively mitigating emissions from the plant.
The SCR device is a remarkable engineering achievement, featuring a stack bypass that adeptly guides combustion gases through a series of 477 ceramic plates, each measuring 2 feet by 2 feet. A titanium catalyst is housed within these plates, akin to the technology found in automotive catalytic converters. The results are impressive, with NOx emissions witnessing a substantial reduction, plummeting from approximately 1.5 lbs/mmBTU to a mere 0.75 lbs/mmBTU, marking a remarkable 50% decrease.
Functioning as a reliable baseload electrical generation plant, our facility consistently operates at or near total capacity, ensuring a dependable and uninterrupted power supply to our valued customers. The only exceptions to this steadfast commitment are brief intervals designated for scheduled maintenance, during which we diligently optimize the plant's performance.
