Although born and raised entirely American, I am also of Scottish ancestry. Thus, I thought it appropriate to pick a pseudonym that reflects my heritage.
Regardless of topic, the heart of a hub, whether truth or fiction, is the fact that it is a story. For those from lands in which gaelic was spoken, i.e. Scotland and Ireland, the term or title for storyteller was/is "seanachai".
Pronounced "shawn uh key", I have seen different sources spell the term different ways, but the meaning is essentially the same. To hear how the term is prounounced, I invite you to listen to Jill Anderson as she talks about the production of her musical collaboration "Seanachai" on YouTube. The title of her video is simply "Seanachai" and the description says,
"A Collaborative Celtic Concert".
Meanwhile, my background is varied.
In 1986, my life sort of took a funky left turn, and between 1986-1994 I served as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy Reserve. From 1987 to 2009 I worked as an emergency department technician for a local emergency department and trauma center.
But then, finally, after a lifelong love for, and talent in, art and design, I graduated magna cum laude from California State University Sacramento with a bachelor's degree in graphic design.
Although I feel I most associate with visual expression, I also feel drawn to the writen word. However, as I learned in design school, both go together. Gwen Amos, the design program coordinator at CSUS, and the best design instructor I've ever known, often told me "type is image and image is type." I hope I get to reflect some of that here at Hubpages. Friends, family members and professors have told me I should take up writing. Thus, finally, here I am.
I hope what I have to share will pique your interest, make your day a little better and provide useful and/or empowering information.
