38Owner of Shannon's Pet Sitting in Chicago's NW Suburbs. Over the years Shannon has built a strong reputation as an expert in the pet care industry. She specializes in areas of pet sitting that include pets with behavioral problems, medical needs, and senior pets. Recognizing the “Special Needs” of these pets, Shannon uses techniques, tools, intuition, patience and compassion to deliver professional loving care. Providing care in the pet owner’s home, allows for pets to remain in their own environment and maintain their daily routine. Resulting in a stress free environment and experience for pets while their owners are away.
Shannon worked at the North Shore Veterinary Clinic in Skokie, IL. In addition to her hands on experience at the clinic, she also completed Veterinary Assistant classes through the American Animal Hospital Association, and CedarValleyCollege. Along with her studies she worked part time at the Animal Emergency and CriticalCareCenter in Northbrook, IL. To further her education in the world of pet care for exotics she worked in the specialty department at Petsmart for two years. She is also certified in Pet CPR & First Aid.
In July 2010 Shannon co-founded a local Pet Small Business Networking group called “PetNet”. The objective of the group is to help each other provide better products & services to pets and their owners. Shannon enjoys mentoring new pet care business owners. Nothing gives her more pleasure than helping others and watching them succeed!
Shannon enjoys working with multiple animal rescues and non-profit charitable organizations by participating in community fundraising events and donation programs. In 2011 she became involved in The 2 Million Dogs Foundation (http://www.2milliondogs.org/) The 2 Million Dogs Foundation is committed to discovering the common links between canine and human cancers and the causes of these cancers through comparative oncology research. Shannon is a proud sponsor & committee member of the annual Illinois Puppy Up! Canine walk for Cancer. Having cancer directly effect her own pets and family members she is proud to be directly involved in this great foundation.
Shannon has been a featured guest as a pet care expert several times on internet radio shows including Peaceful Planet Pets Radio, a pet ministry show hosted by Pastor Bonnie Poirier. She has been interviewed about operating a successful pet care business by Angies’s List magazine and author Georganne Fiumara, in the the book “How to Start a Home-based Business to Become a Work-At-Home Mom.”
In January 2012 Shannon’s Pet-Sitting was awarded the prestigious 2011 Angie’s List Super Services Award, an honor bestowed annually on approximately 5 percent of all the businesses rated on the nation’s leading provider of consumer reviews on local service and health providers. The presentation of the award to Shannon’s Pet-Sitting received publication in numerous newspapers such as the Tribune and Herald.
February 2012 & 2013 the Better Business Bureau awarded Shannon’s Pet Sitting with the Complaint Free Award for 2011 & 2012 recognizing superior performance in the area of ethical business practices and encouraging a continued commitment to total customer satisfaction.
