When I was thirteen, I was given a book by Stephen King. It was Pet Sematary. I love that book to this day. From the second I closed it I knew I wanted to become a writer. I've actually known since I was probably seven years old and used to write little stories for my family to read. Fast forward to 10 years later and I'm picking out a college and being told by some that writing is an unrealitic dream. Learn to type. Become a secretary or a bookkeeper.
So, here I am 20 years later. I'm 37 years old and I finally know what I want to be when I grow up. I've been a secretary, bookkeeper, paralegal and customer service manager, but I'm a writer at heart.
I left my job in May, 2011, after I decided I was ready to take a chance. I've written an unpublished novel and I'm about halfway through another. My goal is to edit the first one and self-publish as an e-book by November, and to finish the first draft of my second novel. In the meantime, I enjoy writing articles for anyone who will have me which includes content mills and private clients. I feel I'm an amateur expert (I'm aware that's contradictory) in fitness, health, diet, recipes and just making your life better in general. I am a fitness nut - as annoying as this might sound, I used to hate people like me, but I eventually found that with the right type of exercise it can be fun. I recently became a group fitness instructor. Hubpages is great because I can be myself and I don't have to worry that I'm displeasing anyone with my writing, though I hope everyone still finds the articles helpful, interesting, awesome, funny, beautiful, etc.
I am also a mom of two wonderful kids, and a wife of 14 years to a great man! I am not a perfect person by any means, but I'm trying my best to live life in the best way I know how. I am hopefully living proof that you can still choose to go in a different direction even if you feel too old to change. I will never be too old to learn and discover new things. I hope to make myself proud in 2012.
