Silent Explosion

I grew up in St. Louis and fell in love with the city life. After high school I thought a little change of pace would be fun and attended Denison University in a little town of Ohio. The city was so small that the only two places to go were a church and a bar. As was quickly learned, if you played your cards right a fun Saturday night only ended when walking into mass Sunday morning.

At Denison I studied biology, swam on the varsity swim team, joined a fraternity, and was a singer and guitarist for a very popular campus band. Our claim to fame was opening for Third Eye Blind when they played at Denison and winning a Battle of the Bands during my junior year (I’m still known to rock out on the guitar, but now my audience consists of my cat Calvin and puppy Lola. I never knew a cat could ‘boo’ with such enthusiasm.). I finished college with a Bachelor's of Science majoring in biology and went home for the summer. Summer turned into Fall and I found myself back in the city, only this time blown northeast a bit to the windy city of Chicago.

And here in Chicago I stay, finishing up my Master's Degree in Biology at DePaul University. Science and biology have been what I
ate and drank for the greater part of my life, and I guess you could say I'm ready to start looking at another menu. Science tasted great for a long time, but as I grow into my mid 20's it’s time to pick a lifetime career, and I desire a little more zest and ka-blam on my plate of life instead of plain ol' organics. It is true that biology, genetics, and other scientific realms make up the most creative force ever seen, the force of life itself with its unimaginable and seemingly unending complexities and diversities. However, I feel that all my research done and books read have given me an above average glimpse into a field that will probably never be fully understood. That's not to say I've completely lost interest in continuing my quest for greater scientific enlightenment, but too much of one thing is never healthy no matter how good it may be; I need to balance out a bit. Time to get crack'n on my next adventure and start writing a new chapter. I love the way a fine point pen feels on a fresh sheet of paper.
