61Stephen Monro is an attorney in Washington State with many years of experience in law, construction, and real estate. He founded the Monro Law Firm and Platinum Law Group and is admitted to practice in all Washington State Courts as well as the Western and Eastern District Federal Courts. Beyond his legal career, he holds licenses as a general contractor, real estate broker, and IRS tax preparer. For over 25 years, he has also provided pro bono legal services to individuals unable to afford representation, handling matters involving civil litigation, personal injury, and property law.
He was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1952. After finishing secondary education, he attended Central Washington University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He later went on to receive a Juris Doctor from City University in Los Angeles and subsequently completed a Master of Business Administration through the Same Institution.
Before beginning his legal career, he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. His military service instilled discipline, confidence, and the ability to make decisions under pressure. These skills carried forward into his legal practice and the management of his firms.
He began practicing law in 1996 and has since represented clients throughout Washington in both state and federal courts. Over time, he has operated under the Law Office of Stephen K. Monro, the Monro Law Firm, and Platinum Law Group. He is also an active member of the Washington State Bar Association, the Washington State Association for Justice, and the American Association for Justice.
With his background as a general contractor, he has firsthand knowledge of construction projects, contracts, and property disputes. His work as a licensed real estate broker provides further insight into transactions, contracts, and disclosures. These combined experiences allow him to approach legal matters with both practical and legal understanding. He also provides mediation services, helping resolve disputes effectively and fairly.
Outside of his professional life, he enjoys fishing, camping, traveling by RV, and caring for horses, including rescues. He values wildlife preservation and has remained devoted to family, with nearly 50 years of marriage providing a strong foundation.
