I am a Peruvian, married to an Austrian engineer, mother of two (girl 21 and boy 20), both born in Australia. We lived in Graz, Austria for 19 years, but we have now moved back to Australia. I don’t like when people ask me where I come from, as it’s difficult to answer! Born in Peru, migrated to Australia (Hobart, Brisbane and Canberra), moved to Santo Domingo, (Dominican Rep), then back to Australia and then on to Austria, where I lived until my husband became Emeritus Professor in 2012. At end of Sept 2012, we returned to Australia again and bought a flat in Nelson Bay, NSW! I have 3 passports, but regret never having obtained the Dominican one, which is the land Columbus (and Sylvia) liked best!

I studied to be a librarian in Australia and have worked in university libraries in Australia and the DR, as well as the Central Bank library in the Caribbean country. I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish, but the French I learned in school and university was forgotten when I started trying to learn German! I have done translations (English and Spanish), but besides helping my husband with his work and publications I have never had a job in Austria.

As a librarian, I give attention to detail and that is perhaps why I enjoy doing embroidery, Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. I also like to write and I’m glad I have found Hub Pages!

  Ciguatera (fish poisoning), is caused by eating fish that have consumed toxins coming from marine micro-algae. Those fish live in tropics and while those toxins are harmless to fish, they do affect humans. I lived in Caribbean for long and it affected me neurologically. I left Caribbean but then...
