TC Newell has written poetry since he was 16 years old. He had been invovled in high school productions during his freshman to senior years, portraying Matthew Harrsion Brady in "Inherit the Wind" and Lazer Wolf in "Fiddler On the Roof" during his senior year.
When he entered college in September, 1974, he took on the role of Father Donald in the "fresh off the press" play "Sticks and Bones." Under the tutelage of Arno Selco at the Penn State Erie Campus (Behrend College), he took acting lessons and did others plays, such as "Rimers of Eldritch", "Moonchildren," and "La Ronde." There, Selco encouraged and helped manifest an original play written by TC Newell, "Sights,"
which helped him win the Behrend theatrical award for 1976.
In 1979, he moved to sunny Florida, where he lived near his grandmother in DeLand, where he appeard in many Shoestring Theater productions, such as "The Good Doctor." He had the opportunity to portray major characters in "The Children's Hour," "The Little Hut," and Lun Tha in "The King and I."
When living in Fort Myers, he traveled to Lehigh Acres to play Alex in "Saving Grace."
Tallahassee became quite a haven for him because he was fortunate enough to play Bennett in "Travesties," some bit part in
"The Elephant Man," Jed in "The Fifth of July," and Christ in "Godspell." This was at the Tallahassee Little Theater.
He loves and respects actors, technicians, and the theatrical process.
