I'm 24, but very knowledgeable in sewing, drawing and web design. For the most part, I'm self taught in these subjects through trial and error.
I was taught sewing at the age of 3, picked up drawing at about 5 and have scarcely stopped drawing since. Web design is the recent one for me. I've only been at it for a few years but after four classes and a lot of online research, I've come to have a good idea of what I'm doing.
My site: http://www.dreamangelsparadise.com has recently undergone a major redesign and I'm told the new layout is very nice. The site features my comic book characters profiles and other information. It's a large site with a variety of interesting things including a portfolio of both school works I've done and fan-made works. The fan-made stuff is my means of practice with various things ranging from drawing on the computer to music videos.
My mother's site: http://www.shirleyscreativedesigns.com features cloth dolls, doll clothes and soft toys she's made over the years since her infamous words "I can do that!" at a doll show when I was younger. It, too went through a major rebuild and is quite the lovely piece of work. It took a long time to rebuild from scratch, but she definitely likes it.
My drawings have taken many years to work out. Even now, they're nowhere near the way I'd love to see them. I've taken several art classes but most of my training has been trial and error.
I'll add in that I'm a student of animation as well. While I dabble in all techniques - stop motion and computer most of all - I wanted very badly to earn a computer animation degree. Long story short, the college I chose for that degree was a scam and instead of earning a degree companies would consider valid, I lost a year and was left thousands of dollars in debt with student loans, broken dreams and credits that will never transfer. I'm currently pursuing a degree in web development/design with emphasis in animation. I have found I prefer web animation to movie animation, but it should not have cost $70,000 + and broken dreams to figure that out. I am also part of a movement to forgive student loan debt because I come from a low-income family (having that degree I wanted was supposed to enable me to pay back said loans) the loans are in deferment due to financial hardship and are only increasing by the day. Not that I wouldn't pay them back if I could, but I simply can't and actually, I'd rather not pay for that tragic and disappointing year I lost. That's like rewarding a thief for stealing your wallet, I think.
My profile image is called "After the crash." It features my characters Lauren the Mercenary, who is the one with the waivy pigtails in the foreground laughing, Dream Angel, the youth in the background in the lighter costume, and Nyxus, Dream Angel's arch enemy, the one in the dark costume with the dark hair. No sexual content intended, Lauren is just simply doubled over laughing at the other two she has caused to come crashing to the ground.
