The Rantin' Texan

If I were to type my full biography, it would be the size of a typical novel, and it would be so depressing, you’d question a) the existence of God, and b) why you should just go ahead and commit suicide. So, to save you a lot of reading, and potentially life-threatening depression, here’s my bio in a nutshell.

I was born in Houston in 1970 and lived there until I was 10. At that point in my life, my dad, who was a big player in the Houston real estate development scene, moved us out of the festering city and to the relaxing, rural life that Northwest Arkansas had to offer. My parents divorced a few years later. He moved back to Houston, and she remarried. Within years, she was broke, as her new husband went through millions in several years’ time. My dad still has his cash, and lives in West University Place.

I am married and have a wonderful little baby girl. As a writer, I have written dozens of scripts for various video projects, including a monthly program that runs in over 5500 stores of a major video game retailer. I have also had op/ed pieces published in the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. My first published piece was in the newsletter for the Houston Museum of Natural Science in the late 70’s, when I was about 7 years old.

As a writer, I fit the stereotype. I’m a manic-depressive chronic alcoholic. It’s not what I want to be, but I seem wired for it - like Hemingway, Kerouac, and others – not that I hold a candle to them, mind you. Maybe it’s the pain and turmoil throughout my life that made me this way, or maybe most creatives are like that. I guess the jury is still out on that one.

Anyway, that’s the pain-free version of my life. I hope you enjoy the opinions I espouse, whether you agree with them or not.
