58To blog or not to blog. That is the question. I started out writing my thoughts and ponderings down so that I could have greater clarity of my own life. I ended up sharing these with my sister and a few friends who encouraged my to either submit them to magazines or to create my own blog. I also toyed with the idea of saving all of my essays until I found the love of my life and then submit them together to create a book about my journey in finding “The One” however I ran into three potential problems. 1. I might find someone quickly and there wouldn’t be enough to create a book. This wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing, but I’m itching to share my insight with the world in an effort to help other people through their own trials and tribulations. 2. I would have put the energy out there that I really want to create a longer piece, and the universe just might grant me my wish for a drawn out, painful and complicated process with lots of fodder for ponderings. Neither of which is what I’m looking for. 3. The reality of actually getting a book published brings me back to part 1b, I’m itching to share my insight with the world and I doubt a book is in the forseeable future.
Since I’m a Gen Xer, I’m part of the original “instant gratification” generations so I don’t really have the patience to submit and wait to hear back from magazines or wait until who knows when to write a book. When I start something, I like to see immediate results. I know. It’s something I need to work on. Maybe I’ll start pondering about that next week.
I spend time with a group of women who have gone through similar experiences during the past two years. They have been an immense sense of support for me, and I would like to dedicate this site to them. You know who you are. I wouldn’t be as strong as I am today without you. For that I am eternally grateful. If you are not so lucky as to have this kind of support group, I hope you can find some solace here within the blogs I hope to generate.
I would like to state that I will be changing all the names in an effort to protect both the innocent and even those who might deserve to be dragged through the mud. I want you to understand that I will not be writing out of anger, venting, or in an effort to “get even”. That’s what my sister and our cell phones are for. For me, the purpose of my writing is to gain clarity and perspective of my own situation and to try to see the bright side of potentially dark circumstances. There are three main characters who will undoubtedly surface time and again. There’s my ex-husband who will forevermore be referred to as The X. There are also my two amazing daughters who I am renaming Meadow and Sage for these writings. These are two names that I had initially suggested for them and were immediately vetoed by The X. Lastly, there will probably be some men mentioned as I cruise through life in the single lane who would rather remain anonymous. I have no idea what I will call them yet.
