Before Adopting One of the Best Dogs for Men Consider these Tips

It's imperative as a man you evaluate your ability to keep a pet before you can commit to adopt a dog. Like all pets, dogs will require you feed them, take care of them by regularly grooming them, walk them and take care of their health problems. There are a number of factors that should help you decide on whether you actually need a dog or just feel like it. Note the difference!

The three most important factors about dog ownership for men who live alone or are single are:

  • Availability- You should not be so committed to work and have not time for your dog. If you are not having anyone back home the dog may suffer from separation anxiety. You should therefore go for a breed that can be left at home alone without being destructive. You should also make time to walk your dog, go for adventure and routine care like feeding, grooming and dog training.
  • Living Restrictions – You should find out from the necessary authorities if where you live pets are allowed. If dogs are allowed you should also consider the amount of space available in the house for the dog. If you have limited space you should consider choosing one of the best dogs for apartment lifestyle.
  • Costs of Dog Ownership - Dog ownership calls for immense responsibility. You have to feed your dog, take him for routine vet checkups, groom the dog all these routine procedures require that you incorporate them in your budget.

If you have all these measures in place you are ready to adopt one of the best dogs for men, as your best companion.

Well, my current dog is a Pit Bull cross because I left my Maltese with my dad after he had his heart attack. I really enjoy most breeds and their different personalities, but will probably get a Malscher (MalteseX Min Pinshcer) when they are born.

I took umbrage at your comment about veterinarians and small dogs. When I was in practice my Maltese went to the clinic with me every day and was small enough to rest comfortably in a small cage when I was in surgery. He was the best dog.
