Ode To A Dog
You’ve been part of my life for many years
You’ve heard my laughter, soothed my tears
The friend that I have found in you
Is one who is steadfast, loyal and true
I have had lots of friends come and go
And many others I have sought to know
And although I have found a quality or two
None of them has been as complete as you
One or two have thought me spoiled
It never matter how hard I toiled
Or how many times I pulled them through
Or how many times my words were true
It made no difference what I spent
On friends of mine who came and went
Not one of them, no matter who
Has ever loved me the way you do
Your brown eyes bathe me with their glow
Your silly antics cheer when I’m feeling low
Your blind acceptance of my flaws
All this I get from just four paws!
