Bed Pillows for Dogs - Re Purposing an Old Blanket
Dog Pillow
From Used Sherpa Blanket to Dog Bed Pillow
The blanket was at the thrift store, in a bin marked Pet Blankets.
The price was five dollars and I purchased a king size blanket to go with the heavy patchwork quilt that I found that I thought would sew well to the sherpa blanket. Well. When I got them home, I found that the two were too thick to sew, so I decided to just use the sherpa blanket instead.
There were lines on the blanket, and I cut along the line. When I folded the blanket in half the long way, sherpa lining out, so when I stitched it and reversed it, the sherpa would be on the inside and the velour would be on the outside.
Then, I proceeded to stitch the raw ends together, and then, flipped it inside out and top stitched the end shut that was just the regular blanket edge. It worked out just fine. It was a little hard going, sewing. A little thick at times, and I broke three needles.
But, I made it through.
One long one for in the garage, under their heat bulb, for days that we're not home. They have a pet door on the outlet door and can let themselves out to go potty and back in to the heat lamp for warmth. They get along fine and are quite willing to share the pad for warmth.
They stay in the house, at night, and each one has its own pillow.
