Doggone Quotes
He's Just My Dog
In loving memory of all our dogs that are now in dog heaven: Lovely, Silver, Vanilla. Winter, Bosley, Prince, Atlas, Valentine, Sandra Dee, Azabache, Oprah, etc etc
Gene Hill said: He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog."

I think some of these sayings are are so profound, i can imagine my dogs in heaven 'guffawing' so much. You have to love dogs and have grown up with them to know what i mean. This hub is dedicated to my brother Vic and his friends who every week, drive some hour and a half, to get together to let their pet Jack Russels roam and run in a farm. I just think it's wonderful.
I come from a family of dog lovers. Our mom and dad raised us with dogs to play with. I remember our very first pet was a German Shepherd that scared the hell out of our neighbors. We loved naming our dogs, and we would pick names of famous people, heroes, celebrities, the weather and whimsical ones, like "Blizzard", Sputnic, and Vanilla.
At one time, my husband and i had twenty one of various breeds from Dalmatians, Basset Hound, Weinmaraner, Dachshund, Labradors and Japanese Spitz's. It all started with our falling in love with one little puppy, then she grew, and then we wanted more. It was a fun and crazy time for us. For sure, no one was bored at home. We didn't have computers and cellphones then for 'toys'. We were kept on our toes, occupied and happy by our furry, barking and playful 'children'. They kept us fit with all the running around we did in our big yard. Thank God for our hired staff who helped us manage our kennel, from feeding, clean-up, bathing, and disciplining. Still. we had our share of little 'accidents', like teething pups who knew no better, and chewed on our pricey carpet, leather shoes and wallets! We pampered our 'brood', making sure they had the best of care. When anyone got sick, we took it hard and worried, like parents. We could have well hired a full time vet just to give them their regular check-ups and shots.
