Easy Dog Treat Recipe
Lola - One of our Havanese Rescue Foster Pups
Cheap Treats For Dogs
Tough cookies may not be a favorite among people, but pups love them! They're easy to make, as the consistency is the key. This makes a huge batch. I bake these every year and give them to the dogs in our family and freeze the rest for our pups. George and Gracie love to test the batches as they cool!
Ingredients:
1 Container chicken livers
1 Can chicken stock (or 1.5 cups or your own or water)
3 Large Eggs
1 Can of Spinach
Optional: Bacon drippings if you have them - 1/2 cup
1/4 Cup Molasses
1/4 Cup Honey
6 to 8 cups flour (white or whole wheat)
Steps;
Place chicken livers and spinach in food processor and pulse until liquidy.
Pour the chicken liver spinach/ chicken stock, eggs, bacon drippings, molasses and honey into mixer bowl.
Mix on low until blended.
Gradually add flour until the dough is very thick. Stop when the mixer starts to smoke (just kidding - but it has to be thick).
Chill the mixture for a couple of hours to make it easier to handle.
Preheat oven to 300F
Drop mixture or roll between your palms to form approximately 1" balls onto baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Cool and let dry out so they'll be hard.
Package and gift to your dogs, family's dogs, friend's dogs, etc.
Happy Holidays!
