Barnyard Buddies in Plush

Farm animals in a plush material appeal to children of all ages, whether the child lives on a farm, or is a 'city kid'. What child hasn't had nursery rhymes and story books read to them about pigs & cows and "horsies". Barnyard Buddies are a favorite of children everywhere.

Plush animals come in many forms and methods of creation. At times you'll find them in a standard shape and color for the animal it represents. Other times the animal is a 'stylized' version sometimes resembling a doll and wearing clothes, created in an unusual color, or looking more like a silly 'cartoon-like' version of the animal. All are stuffed with a soft material to be cuddly, and children (and the child within us all) find them 'irresistible'.

So come along on a tour of the animals found on the farm and in the barnyard.... plush version!

Farm animals are a favorite of children everywhere. Some of the first sounds children learn to imitate are those of cows (moo), pigs (oink, oink), horses (neigh), and sheep (baa-baa).

Plush Holstein Cow

A crocheted interpretation of a favorite farm animal, a cute black & white Holstein cow from my Etsy Shop.

Meet Connie the Cow , a hand crocheted plush cow made with acrylic yarn in black and white. Her 'nose' is pink, her 'hoofs' are black and she has black 'spots' all over her body. One ear is white, one ear is black! Connie measures 5 x 5 x 5 inches, a roly-poly & round design that makes her very hugable! She's filled with soft polyfil.

How Now Brown Cow

Connie's buddy on the farm is a brown cow handmade in brown and tan yarn. Her name is Charlene and she measures about 4 x 4 inches in a roly-poly & round design that makes her very hugable! She's filled with soft polyfil.

These cute toy cows are part of my 'barnyard buddy' series of plush farm animals.

This little pink piglet was handmade in crochet using a pattern offered by the Lion Brand Yarn website, part of their free Vanna's Choice pattern line. I used this pattern because I fell in love with how cute it looked all pink and roly-poly. I used acrylic yarn and stuffed it with polyfil and named her Penelope. She's a nice round 5" x 5" and is very cuddly.

This sweet Earth Pony is hand knit from 100% wool yarn. He is stuffed with clean, carded wool so is super soft and squishy. He has a wonderful long Pink mane and tail, which are securely attached. He is about 7" long, from nose to tail, and stands about 5 1/2" tall.

This darling knitted horse was created by woolies, an Etsy fiber artist from Tucson who LOVES to knit. She says her favorite things to knit are animals. She has ten animals on her little Arizona ranch!
