They rescued me in the nick of time
My days were laid before me
I was but young, but no one wanted
My life to save or spare me
I still recall the day they came
Their hearts so full of joy
Two were big, two not so much
A little girl and boy
They ooed and awed at all the rest
They smiled and spoke to each
While I lay waiting, with big brown eyes
Just biding time to teach
That I could be the one for them
And they the one for me
Would be my goal, when they would come
At last for me to see
Then at last the time had come
They stopped to see us all
I seemed to be invisible
Because I was so small
The runt, they say, just look how cute
His ears so big and all
That's when I tried to seal the deal
But on my face I'd fall
I've blown it now, is what I thought
They'll never hear my song
But then the door would open up
It turned out I was wrong
A second chance for me to show
As to the floor we went
I played and jumped and cuddled soft
But had an accident
Oh no, I said, I've blown it now
Again, is what I thought
But one last time I'd plead my case
Feeling so distraught
I climbed upon the lap of one
And fell so fast asleep
I tried to show how sweet I was
So me they'd want to keep
But then they left, back to the pen
I'd go, and be so sad
I thought I'd sold my case so well
Unto the little lad
Days would pass and then I heard
A voice that sounded sweet
It was the four who'd heard my cry
Whom I was blessed to meet
They'd gone away to make a place
And then for me return
For I'm the one whom they had chose
Is soon what I would learn
I went with them and took a ride
And now at last I'd be
The one thing for so long I'd wish
To be a family
Six years have passed and it's been great
These people that I own ;-)
Have loved me so, and I've loved them
Together we have shown
That love is so much more than words
To toss around, but yet
Some people still have yet to find
We're so much more than "pets"
Man's best friend? Indeed
A dog, a cat, or more
Can bring your life such joy and peace
Just open up your door
And share your love with more than man
You may just find a friend
Who loves you just the way you are
Whose love will never end
Without condition, even when
You fall short or you fail
I'll show you that it's all O.K.
With just the wag of tail
I'm thankful that my family brought
Me home that special day
