The life with a cat.

Cats have been domesticated for thousands of years, and they have become one of the most popular pets around the world. While some people may prefer dogs, there are plenty of reasons why having a cat in your life can be incredibly rewarding. Here are just a few of the reasons why we need cats in our lives.

Cats are adorable and dog's bestfriends

It is widely accepted that dogs are excellent companions for humans. However, it's important to note that cats can also be just as adorable and beloved as dogs. While it's true that cats and dogs are often viewed as natural enemies, this is typically only the case if they haven't been socialized properly. If cats and dogs are introduced and raised together from a young age, they can actually form close friendships despite their inherent differences.

Cats are introvert

Cats have an introverted nature that I can easily relate to since my personality is quite similar to theirs. They have a natural aversion to anything that is annoying and, as such, they typically avoid annoying people by sleeping most of the time. They prefer not to be disturbed and, as nocturnal creatures, they are most active at night when their keen night vision allows them to hunt their prey with ease.

Cats are generally quiet and independent animals that do not require a lot of attention. As long as they are fed regularly, they are content and happy.

They love to sleep a lot

Cats are not necessarily lazy creatures, but rather they tend to be more active at night and are inclined to take frequent naps during the day. As someone who has worked night shifts in the past, I can attest to the fact that working at night can be more challenging than during the day.

On average, cats sleep for 13 to 14 hours per day, which allows them to conserve energy for their nocturnal activities. Interestingly, cats are also known to dream, as evidenced by the movement of their legs and paws while they sleep, and their eyes may also roll around during their dreams.

I once created a cross-stitch of a cat resting on a colorful mat, which is a common sight for these creatures who are known for their love of short naps.

Cats are playful too

It's no surprise that cats are drawn to Christmas balls, as they seem to find them particularly appealing. This may be why they often climb up Christmas trees to play with them. Additionally, cats enjoy playing with dogs, but they have a natural instinct to hunt and eat birds rather than play with them.

Despite their innate inclination to view birds as prey rather than playmates, I once observed a bird named Maria Capra that would ride on the back of our cat Sylvester every morning. It was an unusual sight, and I am curious as to why the bird seemed to enjoy teasing and playing with Sylvester. I hope to capture a video of this unique interaction soon.

They Provide Companionship

Cats are social creatures, and they thrive on companionship. While they may not be as outgoing as dogs, they can still make excellent companions for people who prefer a quieter, more low-key pet. They are content to sit on your lap, curl up beside you on the couch, or simply be in the same room as you.

They Reduce Stress & Anxiety

Research has shown that spending time with cats can help reduce stress and anxiety. Petting a cat can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, and spending time with a cat can help you feel more relaxed and calm. Cats are also great listeners, so they can be a source of comfort and support when you need it most.

They Provide Health Benefits

In addition to reducing stress and anxiety, spending time with cats can provide a range of health benefits. Research has shown that petting a cat can release endorphins, which can help improve your mood. Cats are also known to help lower the risk of heart disease and stroke, and they can even help improve your immune system.

They Help You Learn Responsibility

Owning a cat requires a certain level of responsibility, which can be a great way to teach children (and adults!) important life skills. Feeding, grooming, and caring for a cat can help teach responsibility, empathy, and even time-management skills.

In conclusion, there are many reasons why we need cats in our lives. They provide companionship, reduce stress and anxiety, provide entertainment, keep you company without being overbearing, provide health benefits, and help teach responsibility. Whether you are a cat person or not, there is no denying the positive impact that cats can have on our lives.

Hugsy and Friends

You can be a cat lover

Change is an inevitable part of life that can bring unexpected surprises. I experienced this firsthand when my family welcomed a new member, a cat named Hugsy. Although my father was allergic to cats and dogs, my mother brought her home after discovering her in my sister's apartment.

At first, my father was not pleased with the addition to our family. He complained that cats were dirty and smelly, but my mother, my siblings, and I all voted to keep Hugsy as long as we maintained a clean home. As Hugsy grew, we discovered the joy of having a playful and affectionate pet in our household. She even helped keep pests like cockroaches, snakes, and spiders out of our home.

However, Hugsy eventually preferred to spend more time outdoors, only returning home when she was hungry. One day, she surprised us with five adorable kittens, and we enjoyed watching them grow and play together. Unfortunately, our happiness was short-lived as Hugsy was later beaten and died, leaving behind only one kitten named Sylvester.

Despite the unexpected challenges and heartbreak that came with Hugsy's arrival and departure from our lives, I learned that loving and caring for a pet can bring immense joy and fulfillment. As the saying goes, "if you love a cat, they will love you back; if you hate them, they will hate you forever." So, whether you are a cat lover or not, being kind and compassionate to animals can bring positive change and love into your life.

Why some people are allergic to cats?

In reality, it is impossible to please everyone, and the same goes for cats. Unfortunately, many felines are abandoned and mistreated on the streets, subjected to cruelty and neglect due to human ignorance or selfishness. As sentient beings, we have a responsibility to care for other living creatures, just as we take care of ourselves. Perhaps the reason why cats were created was to be our companions and remind us of this vital obligation.
