In reality, cats adopt you. Their independent nature means that cats decide if a particular person will make a suitable companion. If you are debating on whether or not to have a pet cat, please read this list of positive reasons to give a cat a chance to adopt you as his/her owner.

10. Cats groom themselves. They usually keep themselves very clean at all times.

9. Cats can catch and eat bugs, so your home will be free of roaches, spiders and other creepy crawlers.

8. Cats can sleep next to you on the bed without taking up too much space. They curl themselves up into little balls and go to sleep.

7. Cats don't have to be taken out on walks on cold or rainy days.

6. Cats wear collars with little bells on them, so you always know where they are.

5. Cats will follow you around and all you hear is the delicate pitter patter of paws.

4. Cats will give you nose rubs when you are feeling down.

3. Cats are very vocal and will talk to you in different meows to let you know how they are feeling and always greet you with pleasant purrs.

2. Cats are very soft and cuddly and will let you pet them and will rub their chins and heads on you to express their love.

1. The Love of a cat is not given freely. It is earned and once earned is the best in the world.

Welcome to hubpages. I know you have been here 5 months but this is the first time I have come across you.I agree all cats are different and I certainly love my two sister cats. I have had them since kittens and am amazed at their sibling rivalry. I always thought of myself as a dog person and was shocked at how quickly I fell in love with them. My children persuaded me to get them because they sussed out my phobia of mice. The only thing I worry about is that one of my cats loves hunting and killing birds.

All cats are different, I just wanted to share a few reasons of why I love my cat. She has some annoying habits but I love them all now. She is an elderly cat so I am enjoying the time we have. @ the pink umbrella ~ i am sorry for your loss.

Mr. Murphy isn't the best bug catcher in the world, but he sure loves to chase them. Great fun! Thanks!

As to #9...ours are lazy...they only play with a spider or other bug that inadvertently gets in the house but it is up to us to rescue the bugs and put the bugs back outside.

As to #8...Peaches (one of our cats) sometimes chooses that time to purr, want to be petted, and even groom my hair! At times like that I truly wish she would curl up in a ball and go to sleep!

As to #6...our one cat (Dusty) discovered how to quickly get rid of any collars. Was costing us a fortune buying new collars and tags! Both are now solely inside cats, so not as important for them to have collars.

Other than that...your points are well taken and we love our cats (and dog) and they seem to love us in return. They really are cuties!
