Writing about Dogs...
My dog Peso, inspires me to write
Dogs, Writing and Photography my passion
I started writing in grade school, and continued to write after college, and until I work.. But my real break in writing came when I started to write about my Dog Peso. In the Philippines, Peso's breed is what we called the Philippine Local Dogs, or ASPIN. He can be likened to the mixed breed or mutts, but the origin of his breed is unknown.
There's this Animal Magazine in the Philippines that invites writers to contribute their story. At first I was having a hard time thinking of the good topic that can possibly pass their theme. I just realized that the best topic to write about was the story of my dog Peso...whom at that time was diagnosed to have double perineal hernia, after writing his story, I emailed the Managing editor, begging for my story to get published telling them that my payment will be used for Peso's medication... and one thing led to another...the managing editor forwarded my email to one Animal Organization and they volunteereed to help me with Peso's ailment and they helped me find the best veterinarians that especializes on Peso's case.
When my first article was published, I got feedback that readers were inspired by my story, and I am setting a good example too because in our Country, not all ASPINs are treated fairly, and Peso is one of the lucky few...
Peso had undergone six surgeries, and he is okey now. My bonus, I am now regularly contributing my stories to the same magazines, and I gained lots of friends, fellow dog lovers who care for Peso too...
