Why My Cats Love Their Extra Tall Cat Tree
Extra Tall Cat Tree by Leopet
This extra tall cat tree is amazing! It is rare for me to review a single product, but this extra tall cat tree has brought such joy to my smallest Persian cat that I just had to tell you about it! You will see her perched on the second highest platform. She virtually lives in her huge cat tree since the cats got it for Christmas.
The leopard-like paw print pattern of this tree made it especially attractive, and it is available still in other colours. It is also available in the US, which has a great selection of extra large cat condos and tall cat trees. You can see two of my three cats on the intro picture.

The Grooming Table
Why should I buy a huge cat tree?
In fact, why buy a cat tree at all?
Even the best behaved kitties with access to the outdoors will occasionally claim your furniture as a scratching post! Mine are indoor cats - a condition of their adoption. True cat lovers accept this as a fact and do not fill their homes with priceless Chippendale chairs. In the UK, cats are protected from the evil and cruel practice of declawing (thank Bastet for that!) and they need to renew their claw sheaths regularly.
In addition, cats do have scent glands in their paws. For this reason they like to sink said claws into wood, leather and carpets of all descriptions. They do not distinguish between new and old, expensive and cheap. Whilst investing in a cat tower is no guarantee your furnishings will be safe, it gives them a safer outlet for their natural feline marking instincts and keeps their toes clean and sharp!
You will see both towers in the picture here. Dolcippi is just disengaging her feet from the new tower. In the foreground you can see what a years worth of Persian feet can do to a scratching post. In the background is my 18th century walnut bureau - a family heirloom mercifully unharmed by sharp little feet!

Setting up your extra tall cat tree
A room with a view
We live in a small house, so even the passage ways are at a premium. Amberly loves to be in charge, so this setting gives her rights to see (and in her mind control) the entire house. We set it up next to the old cat tree, which cost just as much and is pretty shabby after just one year. The thought was that it might take them time to get used to the new one. How wrong we were. Whilst it took my boy about a week, the two girls were on the tower within minutes having supervised its construction!
This photo was taken a few days after construction. Dolcippi is on the high shelf, Mew on the old tower and Amberly on top of the back shelf behind the larger of the two cabins. You can see how this tower dwarfs the old one which cost around about the same price.
