My Fat Cat Wants to Get in Shape!
My cat, Sebastian, is fat. I don't mean to sound insulting, but it is just a fact. He is very much like me in that he loves to eat! The problem is that Sebbie's favorite sport is sleeping, and mine is sitting on my comfy chair working on my laptop (like I am doing right now)!
Sebastian and I decided we needed to do something about the squishy parts of ourselves together. After all, it's easier to lose weight with teamwork. Well, I've been trying to use my treadmill a few times a week, but my fat cat will have nothing to do with it. (We tried to teach him to walk on it, but he let us know that it was NOT something he wanted to do!)
We've decided to try to find a way for him to exercise that is more cat appropriate. Sebastian has picked some of his favorite choices to exercise, but we can't decide which one is best for him. Perhaps you can help us decide and share your thoughts below. :-D
Exercise is important for cats, too!
We want Sebbie to get moving to help him lose his extra weight so he will be healthier and happier. There are several things we will do to try to help him including using toys to encourage him to bat, pounce, and chase and creating fun play areas for him using cardboard boxes, chairs, crates, and other safe objects!

Fat Cats: Questions and Answers for Getting Your Tubby Tabby Back into Shape from Healthy Cats Guide!
Sebastian loves to catch mice! - (I wonder if something this simple will help him exercise!)
Well, Sebastian is a fabulous mouser. He love to hunt and pounce around when he suspects that a little critter is trying to make its way into his territory. Perhaps this squeaky mouse toy will keep him active in exercise! Does your cat like to stalk and chase?
Walking the Cat! - (The dog may get jealous!)
Why not take Fluffy along with Fido on the family walks? I always feel bad when we take our pup, Angel, out for a walk and have to leave poor Sebbie alone at home. Maybe the feline would like to come on a walk, too! This special harness allows a safe restrain against the shoulders instead of of the throat.
Tunnel Running & Climbing - Which way is which?
Over 4 feet long of tunnel to run through, roll and rub in, whack the ball hanging from a string, or hide from your crazy humans while you peek out of the peepholes with this exercise toy! A fold-able steel frame helps keep it strong and is easy to store when not in use.
Climbing the Cat Tree - ( You won't need to call the fire department for this kitty tree!)
Jumping, climbing, and moving around are great ways to keep your kitty healthy!
Sebastian certainly prefers the indoors, but he needs to be out and getting some fresh air, too! This strong, easy to fold enclosure allows cats to be outside safely enjoying some rays of sun!
An Outdoor Play Area
Kitty is free to roam around a bit outside but able to stay in the yard safely! Many other pieces such as straight tunnels, platforms, and more may be attached to create larger walk areas for cats.
