My teacup pom 's breathing gets grunty (like a pig) when excited or being tickled is this a problem
iv just rescued a teacup pom and her breathing gets grunty (like a pig) when excited or being tickled is this a problem?
Small breeds such as the teacup pomeranians are known to be affected with collapsed tracheas because of their size. It is hard to say without a vet check up and even then, it is hard for them to diagnose it as a collapse trachea by just simply looking from the outside. If this is the case in your little dog, the panting and excitement can make the collapsed trachea worse and increase inflamation. I would contact a vet to be sure.
Not necessarily, many small breeds make funny sounds when exciting. It is sometimes called reverse-sneezing.
BTW there is no such thing as a teacup anything, teacup is just a descriptive term breeders use. "Teacups" are no different from a normal sized pomeranian except they are bred from smaller and smaller dogs and can sometimes have many health issues.
So glad you rescued a dog! So many shelters are overcrowded these days.
