Litter Box Houses

Updated on June 17, 2014

Litter Box Houses Keep the Cat Litter Hidden

An attractive litter box house conceals your cat litter box, making your home more welcoming to company. Cat litter box furniture not only hides your cat box from visitors, but also makes the litter tray less tempting for small children and indoor dogs. Keeping litter trays hidden in litter box houses makes owning an indoor cat easier and more enjoyable.

After our first baby started crawling I ordered a cat litter house for our cat's litter tray to keep it away from her curious hands. It gave us peace of mind because the baby didn't pay a bit of attention to the litter box and it also kept our dog out of the cat box. The cat litter house we chose was attractive and functional.

Below you'll find a variety of litter box houses to choose from, from a functional cat bench to a litterbox cabinet full of storage. Any of these litter box storage solutions will provide your cat with the privacy he craves and keep his unsightly box hidden from visitors.

Tip for Choosing the Right Cat Litter House

When choosing a litter box house for your cat be sure to keep storage in mind. If the room you keep the cat box in has a convenient place to store litter and a scoop, then you can simply choose the litter box house that you find to be the most attractive. However, if there is no closet or cupboard conveniently located near the cat box, then you should choose a cat litter house that has storage space.

love them, but wish they had some that looked like Victorian or cottage houses that you would just lift up to get to the litter

What an amazing idea. I'm going to show this to Olivia. Important decisions (like this one) are always best made by consensus. If she says, "Meow," I'll buy one.

These are ideal solutions for cat owners. We can't do without the litter boxes, but can have them out of sight as these houses will do.

These are great for discreetly hiding the litter box. I can see in an apartment they keep the cat box from being in-plain-view.

I have a litterbox house too but I still don't want visitors even glancing at it as they pass by. Do I stare at their toilets? Then people should learn that cats need privacy

@SusanDeppner: We were so pleased with our litter box house. The cat was happy. We were happy. Best of all, the dog and our baby stayed out of the cat box. We had a bench seat style box. I liked it, plus it was one of the only boxes large enough for our cat. He was huge, not just overweight, but very tall.

I'm trying to figure out where Oreo's litter box will be in our new house. I think I might have to choose an enclosure to disguise it. I like the clay pot-looking litter box and was surprised at the really good reviews. Just might have to go with that one. Thanks!

I love these stylish litter box houses. I have one from a company called Cat Litter Furniture. I didn't see their link on your lens. I don't want to be rude and post it, but you can look it up. It's very high quality and nice! The box I have is "dog proof".

We don't have a litter box house per se, we used an empty box that we got at the store. I was grocery shopping, and the stock person was done with the boxes, and I picked through for just the perfect size to cover the litter box.

Basically we needed to cover the litter box because the dogs were finding it a source of fascination. lol

Lol...these are gorgeous. I had an old cat for years but she is gone now and all I have for a pet is my very furry husband. Somehow I don't think he needs one of these yet ;)

I have a cat and think that litter box houses are an amazing invention. I have always hated the look of a litter box and these houses look like just the solution.

This is really a great idea. I have a gallery cat with a lidded litter box but it's quite ugly. I think something like this would look so much nicer.

I loved your professional, thorough style. I'm familiar with some people who use these, but some of what you came up with was awesome. Blessed by a Squid Angel.

Love these ideas... funny I have never seen them before. I wonder tho if our spoiled rotten fat cat with Garfield's attitude would use something like this?

This lens piqued my interest, because I'm currently taking care of my mom's cats (at her house), while she's in rehab following hip replacement surgery. And those cats are so messy, tracking litter all over. Thankfully, the litter box is in the garage, but, still ... it would be nice to hide it a bit and contain the litter. For some reason, the regular plastic covers haven't worked very well, but I'll show my mom these other options and see what she thinks. We may have to build something (to save $$), but these are great ideas.
