Yoshi The Parrot
Little Yoshi The Parrot
Yoshi the Parrot - Endearing, charming, playful and personality plus packaged into a vibrant bundle of feathers. They are loving, easy to train little birds, about twelve inches in length, including the tail, and live an average of 25 to 30 years. As juveniles their coloring is a muted olive green, which serves as a defense mechanism in the wild. When they mature, at approximately two year old, their coloring is a brilliant rainbow of yellow, red, orange, blue and green and are often considered the most beautiful of the Conures. They love attention and can develop some destructive behavior if they do not get the socialization they need. They have a piercing shriek which they will use to draw attention to themselves. They like to be held and cuddled and talked to and they do enjoy the company of other birds.
Sun Conures can learn to talk, although they are limited and their voices are birdlike and squeaky. They amuse themselves by imitating unusual sounds, like the sounds of a doorbell, a telephone ring or an alarm clock ring, and that's a Sun Conure! that's Yoshi.
For years I have been contemplating on getting a parrot, although not your typical bird man, my father and I, (oops better not forget Mum and Sisters), raised and bred some 50 budgies when I was younger, and later in life, I raised, and bred Racing Pigeons. So having been at sea most of my life, and now finally settled on dry land, and after much deliberation, investigation, I have finally got the pet I have always wanted, "A Parrot". Located in Valencia, California, Yoshi shares my one bedroom apartment with me. Just over two years old, Yoshi was born and raised in Florida, and found her way over to Valencia, where she was located at Petsmart, a place where I frequent to see all kinds of pets and cheer myself up, By the way, the staff are great, very friendly, have time for their customers and know their stuff.
So on 31st July 2010, Yoshi was carefully placed in a transportation container, food purchased, toys in abundance, and with her new home (Cage) she found her way to her little castle.

My Doctor
So on 28th Oct 10, I had my first visit to see my Doctor who will be looking after me, making sure Bill is keeping me healthy, active, and feeding me correctly.
I was introduced to Dr Wheelbarger of Stevenson Ranch Veterinary Clinic, which is set in the corner of a small shopping complex. This was indeed a delightful experience, the staff were great, we chatted for ages before meeting
Dr Wheelbarger, what a lovely Doctor, she was ever so gentle, and even discovered that I like to lie on my back (Billy take note) and get petted.
I spent a while with the Doctor, had some very intense examinations, but what I couldn't understand is why she was taking some of my poop hehehehe, all well, I suppose there is a good explanation for that.
So after a various amount of tests, donating some blood, I was returned to Billy, a little sleepy, but never the less, I was comfortable and grateful for all the love and attention.
Dr Wheelbarger said I was very health, in good shape and that all of my test results will be here in about a week, not that I have anything to worry about. So I left happy, but Billy sulked a little after paying the Vet bill hehehehe. Ah he got over it, after all we are buddies.
Thank you to all my friends at Stevenson Ranch Veterinary Clinic, see you sometime in the future. Owe if you want details of the clinic, click on the blue veterinary link below.
My Vacation Home
The Bird Bungalow
What a place, home away from home is what I call this, Kelly the owner is such fun, and the girls just love me, can't keep their hands off me :-). This is where I go for grooming, getting myself ready for the ladies, and what a job they do, cut and trim my nails, check my plumage and make sure everything else is in order.
Got my new home from here, such a bachelors pad and loving it. Most, if not all of my toys come from here, great selection. Billy has a weekly visit here for my mixed fruit and veg, yummy, yummy, delicately prepared by the staff and meets my nutritious demands, and he usually comes home with a nice surprise for me, last week I got a brand new play pen, "squawk squawk".
So, if you have not already done so, I highly recommend you visit the Bird Bungalow, (click on the picture) and meet Kelly and her great team, they know their stuff .
