30 Days of Creativity: Day 4
In honor of a new month and a new attitude, I have decided to join others in the 30 Days of Creativity project. The idea behind this is to get people to be creative and maybe relax a bit and enjoy themselves!
The keyword for Day 4 is trousers or pants. I chose to do a mixed media cartoon.
I had the caption before I even knew what the artwork was going to be. "When my husband is at work, I wear the pants" just kind of popped into my head when I saw the word 'trousers'. Seems like such an old word so I guess I automatically went back to the 40s and 50s.
To start off, I went to Google and just did an image search of 40s women. I knew I wanted a black and white drawing so I narrowed the search to line drawings. My lovely lady was about 11 pages in, but I knew when I saw her, she was the one!
I copied the picture and took it to paint. There I erased the bottom part of her dress, but I kept the shoes. Good shoes are hard to find! Then I printed out the picture.
I knew I wanted the pants to be a black and white hounds-tooth pattern, so I went back to Google to search. Found it, copied and took it to a new paint document and printed.
From there, I drew a pair of pants onto the pattern with black Sharpie. Next I cut them out and taped them to the woman's bottom half making sure those pretty shoes were showing!
To finish up, I drew a conversation bubble and put in her witty words and taped in to the page.
The pretty dots are not actually on my finished product. Those are just from a photo editing program. I just thought they were cool!
That's it! That's my Day 4 of 30 Days of Creativity!
