Creating your own Ceiling Decor
This is fun if you have at least one person or more to assist you, however doing it alone is very time consuming and takes a lot of moving about. So make sure you have energy and time before you take on this job.
Yes you can do it!
I am sure at some point we all feel we can take on a job, you know you see someone doing something and you tell yourself you can do it also and perhaps better. Yeah!! Simply because it looks easy and you get those crazy ideas flowing around your head, guess what looks are deceiving but convincing yourself you can is what matters MOST!
Anyways for a while now I have been wanting to put a decor on my bedroom ceiling but time just kept going by. Once or twice I tried searching for stencils in Art Stores but I got nothing. So I just thrust the idea aside for the time being. So late December 2014 I went to the Super Twenty Dollar Store and I saw a sponge flower so I got an idea that I can use this as a stencil and stamp the impression of the flower onto the ceiling.
The next day I went in search of leaves stencils and some other flower sizes I had a master plan in mind for my room. I did not get stencils instead some foam like flowers to put unto a rubber slippers well I bought it. Anything was going to work I needed to get this done once and for all.
My Nephew & I painting the Stencils
Things you will need to get the Job done
- 3 - 5 Small paint-brushes , well this all depends on how much colors you'd be using for your Ceiling Decor. If you have a different brush for each color it will be better to save you time and having to wash out brushes.
- 12 pack Poster Paints that you use for painting school art
- Stencils shapes foam or sponge, maybe you can create your own.
- Four sheets of 8 x 11 paper or news paper to rest the paints on , to avoid making mess on your flooring
- A ladder or stool
- A wet cloth in case of messy hands you can wipe your hands off before colors get mixed up.
Self-Decor on Bedroom Ceiling
Finally I am gonna do it
So on New Year day 2015 when I should have been resting my bones after reaching home 1:00 a.m. from church I decided I am going to attack this job today. I asked my ten year old nephew to assist me, he said sure no problem , so I got out the stencil/foam and my water poster paints and there I was painting the foams and stamping them onto the ceiling. I'd mention here that It would be better if you can have enough stencils to paint one color on each. For e.g. if you start painting one orange then keep using that one to do all the orange flowers.
Shortly after My nephew turned to me and said can the workman have a ten minutes break please. This is about thirty minutes after we started "He is so sad" come on Jaquan we just got started are you for real? Just when i needed you most!. I said okay but I knew he was NEVER EVER coming back . So there I was decorating my ceiling alone honestly it was a lot of work for a tired body but I am a person when I start something I need to finish it so there I was up and down on a stool moving it about my room to lay on the painted impressions on the ceiling. I did this for hours and then I resided to my bed before I dropped dead, because I almost did.
WARNING: after hours of looking up you will start to feel sort of giddy so i suggest you do it in portions, at first your eyes will need to get adjusted to this new look. Immediately after painting it the room will feel weird i guess until a few days have passed, when you've gotten accustomed to it. Better done with help
Thanks for taking the time to read and watch my video
