Drawing Projectors

Updated on December 2, 2010

Drawing Projectors

A drawing projector is a great tool for an image to be projected onto a surface, like a huge sheet of paper or even a wall to paint a large wall mural and a projector is a preferred tool for beginning artists as it gives them the guidelines to trace from an already established image. There are many drawing projectors available and in many different sizes. A selection of some of these are listed below on Amazon. Really though there are many uses for a good drawing projector and these include: -

  • Wall murals
  • Kids bedroom wall art
  • Canvas or paper surface projections
  • Storyboards on the wall (My favorite as you can create a series of slides and tell a story to your kids at bed time!)
  • Plan out drawings on a large wall.
  • And many other uses....

What I found absolutely useful about a drawing projector is that they are the best for creating murals on your wall and I'll be putting mine to use on my kids bedrooms soon,to see if I can create some great painted cartoon characters and stuff, which should be quite cool and inspiring and I'll do a couple of hubpages on this too. I've done some drawing tests with my art projector and it looks quite good and I can see the appeal of blowing up your drawings too to make them appear larger on your wall.

Also if you're like me, flicking through kids comic books and other childrens books with illustrations that make you feel inspired you can project these onto any surface and trace around the images, although on some pieces of art you'll have to focus a bit as there could be multiple colors and stuff, so try and aim for the simple cartoon stuff with a white background (coloring books are ideal for this)

Take a look at the drawing projectors below and see what on would be ideal for projecting art onto any surfaces. And look out soon for a few Hubpages on creating some wall art with an art projector.

Free hand can be cool, but using a projector is just a good option as you can set it up and then go and trace the lines....have tested it out with a cheap projector and it is quite good....going to do a hubpage or two on it!
