Diy Add Elastic to Neckline
Recently, I have been learning how to sew. I am well versed in pillow making, but have started to undertake more complex projects.
My main source of inspiration has been my daughter's new dance class! If you didn't already know, it is extremely hard to find leotards for a toddler. I managed to find one online, but the price tag was a bit extreme considering the fact that she will outgrow it in less than a year.
For this particular piece, I picked up a cheap tank top from Wal-Mart and altered it. But, since it was a simple tank top, I decided to spice things up with a little elastic.

Add a little pizzazz to your tops by adding a cinch of elastic to the neckline! It's very easy to do. Just cut a little piece of elastic, fold the shirt aesthetically, and sew it up!
It make take a little trial and error to decide on the length and scrunchiness that you desire. If you're a newbie like me, it may be easier to sew the ends of the elastic down before using your sewing machine.
Once you have your ends secure, it's time to start sewing! You can either hand sew it down or use a sewing machine. I'm lazy so I chose to use my machine.
Simply scrunch the fabric up in the front of the garment until you are pleased with. Then, very carefully hold the fabric in place and sew a seam down the elastic strip. If you are a bit nervous about holding the fabric close to the needle, use one or two safety pins to keep the material from shifting.
