How to Make Homemade Dishwasher Soap

Updated on March 5, 2013

Recipe for Dishwasher Soap

I have looked for a long time for a recipe that I could use in my dishwasher, and I finally found one. In this recipe, you'll still use Cascade Complete BUT you will go from using a box every month to this recipe stretching it out for a year (or longer) at 2-3 loads a day. Most people do at the most 1 load a day.

The reason the Cascade is needed is the citric acid that it contains. The cost of purchasing that individually would not have been cost effective at all.

The other thing that a lot of people aren't aware of is that using to much dishwasher soap can actually harm your dishwasher. In this case, more is not better !

Ingredients:

1 part of Cascade Power ( you want the Cascade Complete)

1 part of Borax

1 part Arm & Hammer Washing Soda

All you do is mix these ingredients together and store in a container or a zip-lock back works great also ! You'll use 1 tbsp. for each load.
