Ideas To Draw For Kids

Ideas To Draw For Kids

What do I draw? That is the usual response I get from my kids when confronted with a blank piece of paper and I usually respond with "there are lots of ideas to draw" and the world around you is a great place to start. Any type of drawing is a good starting point, household objects and family members can be a great thing to draw, but with kids they want to create from their imaginations.

So with this in mind I tell them to think about the things that they want to draw instead of just feeding them ideas what I would draw, although that could be a good idea, you do have to know what they would want to try to draw.

Top idea is to draw monsters

Monsters are the best thing next to aliens, they are or could be an imaginative exercise in learning to draw. Ideas can come and go, but the drawing and the creating can be the best part about creating drawings from your ideas. I myself have drawn many monsters and creatures and you can learn how to draw a monster right here.

Drawing a monster can be as imaginative as you like and you don't have to use your imagination if you don't want to, although that would be fun. You could draw existing monsters like a werewolf, vampire or a creepy monster. Monsters are always a favorite to draw for kids, so try and get them to draw monsters or some kind of creature as they are just cool to draw.

Drawing Spacecraft And Other Aircraft

Spacecraft is another favorite for kids to draw as I'm basing this on my own experience as a kid as  used to try and cover the full space of a piece of paper with a massive space battle between different space ships and this was really fun and so carrying on this great amount of fun, I thought it'd be cool to relive that coolness of drawing the stuff I used to draw as a kid.

Also as well as space ships, you can draw airplanes and helicopters which are also amazing to draw and these types of aircraft are inspiring to draw and learning to draw them is an interesting process, especially if you stick with it and notice the improvements in your aircraft drawings.

Draw Flies And Butterflies

By drawing the insects around us, children could help their imaginations grow as well as self confidence in drawing and their own artistic abilities could also improve. It's not necessarily perfection why kids love to draw it's the exploration process of making marks and seeing what happens that really helps bring out the creative side of young artists.

Learning to draw any types of animals from real life is always a great learning journey and children are great at having a go at drawing this stuff and in fact if the interest is there at an early age, then they may pursue art as a well meaning hobby or even as a career in which there are many creative employment career paths on offer in their own future of learning.

So the two videos to the right are explorations in drawing a fly and a butterfly and are just really fun to have a go at drawing.

Drawing Halloween Stuff

Drawing Halloween stuff is always fun at Halloween time. Every year I myself draw something scary for Halloween and I've done this ever since I was a kid which is fast becoming quite ancient in terms of a gap between now and when I was at school, but at least I still feel young at heart. There are various Halloween images that you can draw, such as Halloween pumpkins like below and a witches head or even skulls and other haunted ghosties which all sound like great fun to sketch.

When you watch the videos below, have a go at drawing some cool Halloween stuff, you'll be glad you did.

Your tutorials are great for kids, and people of all ages. I really like the shading on the scary pupmkin, which we call jackolaterns here in the US.

To me, artists are rather like magicians. They make art magically take shape on a blank paper or canvas. Someday I'm going to pick up some of the drawing books for kids I sell and try to make some magic myself. Congrats on being among the Fab 14 this week.
