Le Début

The beginnings of any artistic expression are delicate and difficult. It is when you can finally find harmony and comfort with your own voice amidst the paralyzing noise around you.

The challenge is that, as you continue, you are either distracted by the criticisms or the praises you receive. When you feel disheartened by their disapproval, you become willing to submit the power of your own voice and replace it with theirs. The same thing happens when you are enraptured by their admiration. You become willing to keep on performing based on the limits of their expectations because it feels so good to keep on receiving their appreciation - but what if you want to explore or experiment something for the sake of your art? Paying too much attention to these can lead to a tragic demise of your own curiosity and the sheer pleasure of doing it.

Hence, most beginnings are left unpublished in pursuit of their hurried better versions. Beginnings are messy but also magical. They are your milestones.
