Big things can come in small packages :-)

When you think about the world’s great ports, do you think about New York, Tokyo or Amsterdam? What you probably don’t think about is Antwerp. Located in the north of Belgium along the Schelde, it’s one of the world’s largest ports with over 30 kilometers of docks serving ships of all sorts and sizes.

With several centuries of history, the port has changed a great deal over time in order to keep pace with technology as well as the ever-growing size of ships. However, if one looks hard enough, traces of its past can be found by the eager viewer, often cropping up amongst hulking icons of the present.

You are such a talented photographer. Stellar examples of Antwerp's beauty found behind the lens. My dear Dad first grabbed my interest as he enjoyed going to different ports within our country. He was a Navy man.

      Great hub. Voting up

An impressive collection, I especially like the use of black and white, and it works particularly well in the industrial shots. Thanks for sharing Darryl:-))

I must admit to being in a b&w mood lately. I think it's the utter absence of sun we've been suffering in Belgium as of late LOL!
