Project 365 week 13

Updated on January 31, 2012

November ends

Week 13 marks the end of November and the begining of the Christmas season. As with the other weeks that had a month end I added the calendar photo from my iPad app as well as a slideshow video showing all the photos. I make these at the end of each month to keep me motivated to go on to the next. When the entire year is over I plan to make a DVD of the project as a keepsake.

Day 86

This is another late night with me scurrying around the house looking for something to take a photo of. As this happens quite often it is a good thing there is never a shortage of knick knack type items laying around. Shells are found in most rooms of my house, since we come home with a lot of them when we go to the beach. This little conch shell was the subject today- they are my favorite types because they are harder to find on the beaches we visit.

Day 87

Today I packed up the kids since the weather was cooperating and we all took our cameras to my old alma mater. The college campus has some very interesting architecture and since there are also some very old buildings the stone work is incredible. We walked the pathways and the kids were taking photos of chipmunks and leaves. I showed them the buildings that I used to take classes in and the dorm that I called home for a while. It was just a nice day to be outside and taking a walk down memory lane.

Day 88

The Christmas tree is now up so it seemed like a good subject for the day.. the exciting thing is- I have my first photo client today. I am taking a family Christmas picture and the tree was going to be needed for a prop. Since I do not have a backdrop yet I hung a white sheet from the ceiling behind the tree. My brand new portrait lighting was brought out and put to the test. Everyone was I think pleased with the results and I can now finally say that I have made my first sale. Does that make me a photographer? Well, not yet... lol ... but the sale does give me a reason to get some business cards made up.

Day 89

The weather has been rainy and icky, at least not snowy and blowy. But it does give a grey cast to all photos taken outside. There is one stream that the steelhead trout run up to spawn when the water is high. So as I was out and about today I decided to see if any of the fish were going to happen to make an appearance where I could catch one on film. No such luck, so instead I just took a photo of some of the "rapids"

Day 90

With all the water in the streams the little waterfalls are now roaring walls of water. Normally a little trickle of water I took advantage of the view and snapped a quick photo. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, but since I will be inside all day I am out in the rain today. Bummer...

Day 91

The day came and went and by the time I was able to get out to take my photo it was past the magic hour of sunset and into the waining hour of twilight. In hindsight I should have changed the aperture on my camera and adjusted the shutter speed to allow more light in. But at least I know what I did wrong. The project 365 is a photo a day .. good or bad... everyday. So here is the bad I guess lol

One more month photo from the iPad app and one slide show finished for my future block buster move :)

I hope you enjoy the videos... I had a blast making them. It is neat to look back over the past months and see how my photos have changed. The subject matter has developed and a style seems to be emerging. I am curious how it will evolve over the remaining nine months.

Day 92

December starts today. The last month of my project that is contained within the year 2011. This photo was taken using a star filter on this amazing outside light that one of the neighbors have. At night the light reflects in the beveled glass naturally, I just decided to try out my new filter though and give it a little extra umph... I am thinking this will be a great filter for family photos infront of a Christmas tree. Not something I want to take photos with all the time, but I do think it is a great little added tool for the growing camera bag.

Week 13 is complete

WIth November behind me and December off to a good start. I look forward to finishing 2011 strong. Since this is week 13, if you have missed any of the other hubs in my series, please take a minute and check them out. Until next time...
